Estate Planning and Administration

Skilled Attorney in Estate Planning and Administration

Whether you are planning for the future or administering a loved one's estate in the probate process, please contact me to discuss the guidance you need.

Estate Planning

Every family is different and every family has their own estate planning needs. My goal is to help you to protect, plan, and manage your healthcare and personal assets. Regardless of your age or the size of your estate, a comprehensive estate plan is critically important to allow you to manage your affairs in the event you are unable to, and to maximize the amount of your hard earned savings that you are able to pass along to your loved ones.

During the estate planning process, most people understand the importance of having a will and / or a trust to make sure that assets pass to the intended heirs. I will work with you to discuss your goals and concerns, and to review all of your probate and non-probate assets, in order to develop a plan designed to meet your estate planning needs.

As part of a comprehensive estate plan, you may also want to consider appointing an agent under a general durable power of attorney, healthcare power of attorney, and / or an advanced health care directive, also called a living will. I will also make every effort to ensure that your agent has the authority to make the necessary financial and healthcare decisions for you in the event you are unable to make or communicate such decisions.

Estate Administration

After the death of a loved one, it is essential that the deceased's affairs are put in order. This includes probating the decedent's estate, locating and marshaling all of the assets of the estate, making sure that the debts of the estate are paid, and seeing that the heirs receive the full inheritance left to them.

Oftentimes, those responsible for these matters, the executors and administrators of the decedent's estate, are overwhelmed either because they are still grieving the loss of their loved one or they do not understand what they are required to do, or both.

I work with executors and administrators to help them understand their obligations as the personal representative of an estate and help them accomplish the necessary tasks to ensure that their loved one's estate is properly administered and their will properly executed.
